Vicki Knipmeyer, LCSW, RPT

Vicki is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Registered Play Therapist, and joined the team at The Center for Counseling & Training in November 2011. She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and the Association for Play Therapy. Before moving to Lafayette County in 2011, she worked as a school social worker the St. Louis area for 6 years. Vicki has experience working with individuals, families, and groups. She specializes in children and youth, and will work with children as young as 3 years old. Vicki has clinical experience with a variety of issues, including anxiety, depression, attention deficit disorder, abuse/trauma, family violence, social skills, and adjustment to issues such as foster placement, divorce, custody/visitation changes, and relocation.

As a therapist, Vicki believes that every individual and family has strengths to draw on, and that it is important to look beyond just individual challenges to include work with the family, school, and community. She is passionate about meeting every client where they are at developmentally using a variety of interventions and techniques. She uses her background as a play therapist to build a positive, trusting relationship with her clients and to help clients of all ages work to meet therapy goals using a variety of creative techniques.

Jessi Johnson, LPC, NCC

Jessi received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Missouri State University. She went on to earn her master’s degree in guidance and counseling from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Jessi recently moved back to Missouri from Nashville, TN where she worked as a school-based therapist helping adolescents, families, and teachers with ADHD and behavior management, trauma, crisis intervention, and other emotional disturbances.  Jessi enjoys working with adults, older teens, and couples.

She has experience working with adolescents and their families, couples, adults, and those struggling with addictions. While Jessi often works from a cognitive-behavioral and strength-based model, she believes that the methods used need to be based on each individual or couple’s needs. Jessi joined The Center for Counseling and Training in 2014.

Jessi is married to her high school sweetheart, Derrick, and they have a one year old son, Cruz.
